Junior secondary

Our Junior Secondary fosters the development of responsible, thoughtful and socially just young people for life in  a technological and global society.
Our dynamic, contemporary and futures oriented environment will challenge students to collaboratively and independently explore and create, to make decisions and to actively participate in  and be accountable for their learning.
At Everton Park State High School, a Junior Secondary curriculum approach is used that recognises the unique developmental needs of early adolescents and supports transition from primary to secondary education. It emphasizes real life, meaningful learning experiences undertaken in a stable and supportive environment and recognises cognitive, emotional, social, physical and moral developments during adolescence.
The Everton Park State High School responds to this unique stage of development by providing a Junior Secondary approach. This includes:
  • A learner-centred approach whereby coherent curriculum is focused on identified needs, interests and concerns of students, and with an emphasis on self-directed and co-constructed learning.
  • Collaboratively organised teams of  teachers who know and understand their students very well, employ powerful pedagogical strategies to challenge and extend students within a supportive school environment.
  • adequately resourced curriculum through the provision of high quality facilities, technology, equipment and materials to support experienced teachers and ancillary staff.
