Vocational education

VET in schools helps students in their transition from school to work and provides many students with added skills and abilities which helps them gain employment upon leaving school. Most Queensland secondary schools offer VET certificates within the Australian Qualifications Framework, Australia's system of nationally accredited vocational education and training.

At Everton Park we offer the following VET pathways in Years 11 - 12:
  • School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SAT's)

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs) allow students to train and do paid work in a chosen traineeship or apprenticeship while still at school completing the Senior Phase of Learning.

  • Short Courses

Each year short courses occur within the school relevant to the student’s interests and needs. These courses include bricklaying, RSA, RSG, CERT 1 in Construction and the White card course.

  • Stand-Alone AQF Qualifications

The school partners with private VET providers such as Training Direct to provide current industry training.

  • TAFE Courses

Students may also study TAFE courses while they are enrolled at Everton Park State High School.

  • Work Experience

All Year 10 students complete a week of work experience in Term 4. Work experience can be a life changing experience allowing students an opportunity to explore a career they may be interested in pursuing.
