Everton Park State High School requires students to bring their own laptop to school. This ensures that all students in our community are able to access learning in every lesson, every day.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Our BYOD policy offers families the flexibility to utilise a 'family owned' device, as students can bring their own personal laptop to school (the student must be the administrator of the device and no family sharing can be enabled).  BYOD laptops must meet the minimum requirements.

Acceptable devices list

The acceptable devices list can be downloaded and printed on the right hand side of this page. It is recommended to print this sheet and bring it with you when selecting a device. Android Tablets, Chromebooks, iPads and ARM based Windows devices are not supported. ARM based devices are sometimes referred to as Snapdragon or Qualcomm devices.

Appropriate use of the device

Students must:

  • Ensure their device is fully charged and ready for every lesson, every day.

  • Ensure the device has all required software loaded on their device.

  • Be ready to use their device for learning.

  • Allow any staff member to immediately view any active/open software or applications, when directed.

  • Ensure the device is stored securely while not in use at school.

Students must not:

  • Use the device in any way that may bring the school into disrepute. This includes, but is not limited by:

  • Viewing or attempting to view illicit web material;

  • Cyber-bullying or intimidation;

  • Using email inappropriately, this includes: trolling, bullying, using offensive language  or communication with others that is not related to learning;

  • Misrepresenting the school or any other person or entity in electronic communications;

  • Viewing or attempting to view any material associated with bomb-making, drugs, or any material deemed by the school to be unsafe conduct;

  • Use their device to record video, audio or take pictures unless they have consent from their teacher/s and other persons;

  • Upload to any website any digital media from their device without consent from their teacher/s and other persons.
