Study tour programs combine exciting educational, tourism and cultural exchange activities for overseas student groups visiting Queensland Government schools.
Students have the opportunity to enhance their English language skills and academic capabilities by studying alongside their school buddies in a Queensland classroom environment. By integrating into the school community students have the opportunity to develop lasting international friendships.
Students benefit from a safe, caring and rich educational experience at school and throughout their stay in Queensland. Staying with carefully selected host families from within the school community, students can experience the unique Australian lifestyle.
Designed with flexibility and innovation, study tours to Queensland Government schools are customised to meet diverse group needs. Programs can include a variety of interactive school-based activities and educational excursions to provide distinctive life-long learning opportunities.
In 2018, EPSHS was fortunate to have student visitors from Niigata Shogyo in Japan in July and Kawasaki High School in Japan in August.
Approximatly 20 students were in each group and they were paired with local families for a week long visit, While at our school they were buddied with one of our students and attended classes with them. They also participated in "Aussie" cooking and art classes as well an Indigenous workshop.
The bonds and friendships formed among the visitors and our students are a testament to the importance of hosting students from afar.
As well as students, we also had a day visit from some student teachers from Hong Kong who were accompanied by staff from QUT. In 2019 we are hosting student teachers from Taiwan for a day in August.
